Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) for full-time night shifts. The role features a 0.9 FTE (72 hours per two weeks) with a $7,500 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants and rotating weekends and holidays.

You will provide direct patient care in a busy ED, including meds administration, patient education, and collaboration with the care team to ensure timely and safe transitions.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing program (bachelor's preferred).
• One to two years of inpatient med/surg or critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including meds, specimen collection, and treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Coordinates patient transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support needs.
• Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition.
• Advocates for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being.

ED provides unscheduled outpatient services to patients whose condition requires immediate care. ED is staffed 24/7/365. ED provides meaningful work with a wide variety of tasks. There are lots of learning opportunities, a teamwork-oriented environment and plenty of excitement. Change is constant and it can often be emotionally taxing and stressful. One to two years of inpatient med/surg or critical care experience is preferred.

How you'll contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Handle with Care- Advanced (within 90 days)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) (within 1 year)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) (within 1 year)
