Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Registered Nurse Director for the Emergency Department. This full-time, salaried role offers day shifts, a 1.0 FTE/80 hours per pay period, and a $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.

You will lead ED operations, staffing, budgeting and clinical protocols, ensuring high-quality patient care and staff development. Michigan RN license and BSN required; master's preferred and a range of essential certifications are expected.

Qualifications

• Must have current Michigan RN license.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing; master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery and budget oversight.
• Plans staffing, including hiring, orientation, evaluation and continuing education initiatives.
• Monitors and manages department budgets and audits.
• Fosters an environment that supports professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations.

ED provides unscheduled outpatient services to patients whose condition requires immediate care. ED is staffed 24/7/365. ED provides meaningful work with a wide variety of tasks. There are lots of learning opportunities, a teamwork-oriented environment and plenty of excitement. Change is constant and it can often be emotionally taxing and stressful. One to two years of inpatient med/surg or critical care experience is preferred.

How You'll Contribute

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school (master's preferred).

Additional Requirements Include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Handle with Care- Advanced (within 90 days)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) (within 1 year)Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) (within 1 year)
