Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking an ED RN Director to lead the Emergency Department with a focus on patient care quality and staff development. This full-time role offers a Mon-Fri day schedule and a $15,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.

The position requires Michigan RN licensure, a Bachelor's in Nursing, and leadership experience in ED or critical care settings, with several life-support certifications. Competitive benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school (master's preferred).
• One to two years of inpatient med/surg or critical care experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP).
• Handle with Care- Advanced (within 90 days).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with organizational requirements.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery and budgeting.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities including hiring, orientation, evaluation and continuing ed.
• Prepares and evaluates departmental budgets and coordinates internal/external audits.
• Creates an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ED provides unscheduled outpatient services to patients whose condition requires immediate care. ED is staffed 24/7/365. ED provides meaningful work with a wide variety of tasks. There are lots of learning opportunities, a teamwork-oriented environment and plenty of excitement. Change is constant and it can often be emotionally taxing and stressful. One to two years of inpatient med/surg or critical care experience is preferred.

An ED RN Director who excels in this role:

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for
