Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking an ED RN to join our Emergency Department on a PRN basis. The role requires an active Michigan RN license and an associate’s degree in nursing, with a bachelor’s preferred.

We offer a 12-hour varied shift schedule (7-7) and you’ll be scheduled one weekend per cycle plus two holidays. The ED operates 24/7/365 and emphasizes teamwork, learning opportunities, and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing program; bachelor’s preferred.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
• Handle with Care- Advanced (within 90 days).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care including medication administration, specimen collection and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided and monitors patient condition for care team and family.
• Collaborates with care team across disciplines to coordinate transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial needs.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and promotes independence.
• Evaluates and addresses patient and family education needs according to age and culture.

ED provides unscheduled outpatient services to patients whose condition requires immediate care. ED is staffed 24/7/365.ED provides meaningful work with a wide variety of tasks.There are lots of learning opportunities, a teamwork-oriented environment and plenty of excitement.Change is constant and it can often be emotionally taxing and stressful.One to two years of inpatient med/surg or critical care experience is preferred.

How you'll contribute

An ED RN who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).
