Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is part of Lifepoint Health and seeks a Cardiac RN to provide high-quality patient care in a 36-bed Cardiac Department. Expect 6 x 12-hour shifts (7-7) with rotating weekends and holidays. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for qualified applicants.

This role supports a mission to deliver exceptional care and improve community health. The position emphasizes plan of care, documentation, patient advocacy, education, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Michigan RN license required.
• Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required (ACLS within 1 year).
• IMCU cross-training within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Plan and administer patient care including medications and treatments.
• Document patient care and monitor conditions.
• Monitor and communicate patient status to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist with activities of daily living and support across disciplines.
• Educate patient and family; advocate for patient wellbeing.

More about our team

The Cardiac Department has 36 beds. Patient population and diagnosis: Cardiac and CVA patients. Post op day 1-2 CABG, pacemaker patients, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, SVT, AFIB w/RVR or new a fib, acute MIs, PCI patients, Fem/Fem bypass, CEAs and more. We also do step down (IMCU) patients. Nurses are exposed to more critical patients, making it a good bridge to departments such as ED and ICU.

How you'll contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.


• Documents patient care given.


• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.


• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.


• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.


• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.


• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)


• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year)


• IMCU cross-training (within 1 year)


• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) (within 1 year)
