Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is seeking an ICU RN to join our 24-bed unit, supporting ICU and IMCU populations with open heart and neuro surgery cases. The role offers 6 x 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays, and a $7,500 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.

The position requires Michigan RN licensure, an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), and critical-care certifications. Benefits include comprehensive medical coverage, PTO, and retirement planning.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license required.
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing program; bachelor’s preferred.
• Certifications: BLS-HCP, Handle with Care- Advanced, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers and discharges.
• Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides education appropriate to age and culture.
• Advocates for patients' physical and emotional well-being.

More About Our Team

ICU has 24 total beds with the ability to care for ICU and IMCU patient populations with care aide support. This team supports open heart, neuro surg, CRRT programs, as the level 2 trauma center for the UP of Michigan, Cath lab and Interventional radiology perform high risk PCI and high-risk procedures. Clinical Educator is located on the unit and follows the ECCOs program for orientation. Acuity changes from high ICU census to high IMCU census.

How You'll Contribute

An ICU RN who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).
