Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette's Behavioral Health Unit is seeking an experienced RN to deliver high-quality patient care on a 34-bed unit. You will participate in care planning, perform medication administration, document care, and monitor patient progress in collaboration with the care team.

The role is full-time 0.8 FTE with 8-hour day shifts from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, rotating weekends and holidays. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for qualified applicants, with comprehensive benefits and

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate degree from accredited nursing program (bachelor's preferred).
• BLS Health Care Provider certification.
• ACLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living: personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, discharge, transfer, or referrals.
• Educates patient/family appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Education

Associate's degree in Nursing

RN license (Michigan)

Bachelor's degree preferred

Join a specialty nursing unit where you can build valuable clinical expertise while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes. Our 34-bed unit is currently staffed for 21 patients, with plans to grow alongside census needs. Nurses enjoy the rewarding experience of seeing patients progress and stabilize over time, something not always possible in traditional inpatient settings. The team is highly collaborative, supportive, and committed to maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff, creating a strong sense of camaraderie and purpose every day.

How you'll contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Handle with Care-Advanced (ACLS) (within 90 days)
