Job summary

Ascension is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, TX. This night, full-time role focuses on patient safety and high-quality surgical care in the pediatric OR.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, perform circulating and scrub nurse duties, and document care in the EHR to support efficient surgical workflows. CNOR not required but preferred, BLS/ALS per policy.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse credential from the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) within 6 months of hire date or BLS within 1 month of hire date.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Operating Room RN care before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and outcomes.
• Coordinate patient care with the interdisciplinary team for efficient surgical workflows.
• Perform circulating nurse responsibilities: monitor patient status and document in the EHR.
• Provide scrub nurse support: maintain sterile technique, prepare instruments, and assist surgeons.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver Operating Room Registered Nurse care by providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Coordinate patient care and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support efficient surgical workflows, clear communication, and high-quality clinical outcomes.
• Perform circulating nurse responsibilities by monitoring patient status, documenting care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
• Provide scrub nurse support by maintaining sterile technique, preparing instruments, and assisting surgeons to promote procedural efficiency and patient safety.
  

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• One or more of the following required:
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
  

Additional Preferences

• 1 plus years OR RN experience with pediatric OR RN experience a plus.
• 36 hours per week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6:30pm - 7am.
