Job summary

Ascension Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric/Cardiac ICU. The role focuses on cardiac monitoring for post-op pediatric patients and managing advanced support like ECMO and VADs, with collaboration across cardiology and surgical teams.

The position requires Indiana RN licensure, BLS within 30 days, and preference for a BSN. Open Heart experience and a minimum of 1 year of pediatric-specific experience are valued.

Responsibilities

• Cardiac Monitoring & Assessment for post-op pediatric heart surgery and congenital heart defect patients.
• Advanced Mechanical & Pharmacological Support: ECMO, VADs, and vasoactive infusions for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients.
• Post-Surgical Critical Care: ventilators, pacemakers, chest tubes, invasive lines management.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration with cardiologists and surgeons for family-centered critical care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Cardiac Monitoring & Assessment: Perform hemodynamic and continuous cardiac monitoring for post-op pediatric heart surgery and congenital heart defect patients.
• Advanced Mechanical & Pharmacological Support: Manage ECMO, VADs, and complex vasoactive infusions for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients.
• Post-Surgical Critical Care: Deliver post-operative recovery care, managing ventilators, pacemakers, chest tubes, and invasive lines.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with cardiologists and surgeons to deliver family-centered critical care.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Additional Preference :

• 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required
• Pediatric Open Heart experience .
