Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks an experienced registered nurse for travel assignments in cardiac and telemetry units. The role requires critical care skills, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications, and EPIC experience, plus an active US RN license.

Job description

Requirements
  • At least 1 year of professional experience
  • Current active professional license
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Experience in settings such as Stepdown Cardiac, Stepdown, IMC, DOU
  • EPIC system experience within the last 12 months
  • Two clinical references, including a minimum of one leadership reference from assignments within the past year
  • Open to first-time travel professionals
Shift Details
  • Weekend availability is mandatory
  • Shift hours: 06:45 - 19:15
  • 12-hour shifts offered
Required Skills
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • Proficient in telemetry monitoring
  • Experience utilizing Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Cardiovascular care including post cardiac angiogram, post myocardial infarction, and pre/post cardiac catheterization
  • Endocrine and metabolic management including IV insulin protocols
  • Gastrointestinal care including feeding tube management
  • Genitourinary and renal care including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including port access and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care and management
  • Peripheral line and PICC line management
  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • Medication management including heparin protocols, cardiac drops (no titration), vasoactive drops (no titration), PCA, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, and titration of cardiac drops
  • Neurological and psychiatric care including cerebrovascular accident (CVA) management
  • Orthopedic care including orthopedic trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
  • Plastic surgery care including management of surgical drains
  • Respiratory care including chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), arterial blood gas interpretation, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy care
  • Professional knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care including wound vac management
Orientation
  • Human Resources orientation is held every Monday; clinicians must be available to attend on their Monday start date
  • Unit orientation lasts two days and should be completed within the first three weeks of employment

  • Charting system used: Epic
  • Scrub color: Royal Blue
  • A one-year separation period is required for previous permanent employees
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are mandatory, with medical or religious exemptions accepted for COVID-19
Submission Requirements
  • Confirm availability and commitment to working 4 shifts per month
  • Confirm that you are not actively pursuing other permanent or travel positions that would interfere with completing 4 shifts per month
  • Confirm commitment to prioritizing the compliance process and meeting all deadlines to be cleared by the start date
