Job summary

Ascension Saint Alexius in Hoffman Estates, IL, is seeking a Registered Nurse to support the Pre-operative Services department. The role is on-site with day shift and PRN coverage, delivering direct nursing care and implementing care plans in collaboration with the surgical team.

You will perform pre-procedure assessments, coordinate discharge planning, and act as a primary liaison across clinical disciplines to ensure smooth, well-coordinated pre-admission care delivery for surgical patients.

Qualifications

• RN license in Illinois
• BLS within 1 month of hire date
• Diploma in nursing or equivalent licensure

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver direct nursing care, implement individualized care plans, and carry out provider orders while continuously monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition changes in according with established protocols.
• Perform pre-procedure nursing assessments and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to identify, evaluate, and coordinate patient discharge planning needs prior to surgery.
• Serve as the primary liaison across all clinical disciplines, medical staff, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless, well-coordinated patient care delivery throughout the pre-admission phase.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences

• 1 year of PAT experience.
