Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola seeks a dedicated RN to join the PACU Recovery team. You will provide immediate post‑operative care, monitor patients, and communicate with anesthesia and surgical staff to ensure seamless recovery.

This role emphasizes strict aseptic technique, vigilant pain management, and proactive anticipation of case needs based on procedure type and pathophysiology. A clear focus on patient safety guides every shift.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program.
• One year of Staff RN experience; critical care or PACU preferred.
• Florida RN license or multi-state license (Compact State) required: Florida license or current home state license for mutual recognition.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Follows aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
• Evaluates patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manages patient's pain.
• Anticipates case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida. Credentialed from State Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program required.

Work Experience

• One year of experience as a Staff Registered Nurse is required. Previous experience in a critical care or PACU setting is preferred.
