Job summary

Ascension Health in Racine, WI, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the PACU/Recovery unit on a part-time, weekend-only schedule. You will deliver specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia, monitor responses to interventions, and support a safe, pain-managed post-operative course.

The role requires Wisconsin RN licensure, ALS within 6 months, BLS within 1 month, and PALS preferred. Join a faith-based health system committed to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing required before hire.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) within 180 days of hire.
• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire.
• PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized, high-quality direct nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in the immediate post-operative period.
• Monitor patient responses to treatments and interventions to inform and adapt the care plan.
• Manage and alleviate patient pain and discomfort using evidence-based techniques.
• Uphold patient safety by following aseptic/sterile techniques and maintaining a clean recovery environment.
• Anticipate case-specific patient needs using knowledge of surgical procedures and pathophysiology to ensure seamless care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver specialized, high-quality direct nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring a safe and stable transition in the immediate post-operative period.

• Monitor patient responses to all treatments and interventions, quickly identifying and addressing critical changes to inform and adapt the ongoing care plan.

• Manage and effectively alleviate patient pain and discomfort, employing evidence-based techniques to promote comfort and optimize the healing process.

• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by rigorously following all aseptic and sterile techniques, ensuring a clean and infection-free recovery environment.

• Anticipate case-specific patient needs by applying expert knowledge of surgical procedures and patient pathophysiology to ensure proactive, seamless care delivery.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.

• One or more of the following required:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.
