Job summary

Ascension seeks a dedicated RN for the Operating Room Float Pool in Nashville. You will serve as the patient’s advocate, help ensure safe transitions to recovery, and support sterile field integrity throughout procedures.

The role emphasizes OR readiness, patient positioning, equipment optimization, and proactive supply management to keep surgeries running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Tennessee or compact state
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Life Support (ACLS/ARLS) preferred or within required timeframe

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients and ensure safe, smooth transitions to recovery.
• Maintain sterility and assist with OR readiness, including positioning, equipment readiness, and supplies management.
• Coordinate OR workflow to support surgical teams and optimal patient outcomes.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Clinical Advocate & Care Strategist: You are the patient's primary voice during their most vulnerable moments. By monitoring, recording, and communicating their condition with clinical precision, you ensure a safe, seamless transition to recovery.
• Safety & Precision Sentinel: Serve as the final authority on the sterile field. You'll maintain absolute integrity over patient positioning, equipment optimization, and supply management, ensuring 100% accuracy from the first incision to the final closure.
• Master of OR Operations: Lead the rhythm of the room. By staying three steps ahead of the surgical team, you'll orchestrate the preparation of cutting-edge technology and supplies to ensure every procedure is executed flawlessly.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing OR current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences

• Needing a flexible schedule and weekly availability
• Previous specialty experience with Spine, Joints, Cardiac, Plastics, Robotics, General and GYN
