Job summary

Ascension is seeking a qualified RN for the Preoperative Medical Clinic in Nashville. You will assess patients pre-operatively, coordinate interdisciplinary clearances, and educate patients on preparations, logistics, and post-operative plans.

The role emphasizes meticulous chart reviews, risk mitigation, and proactive coordination with physicians to ensure timely surgical clearance and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse from TN Board or multi-state license recognized before hire date.
• ACLS or BLS certification required within specified windows of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operative Risk Mitigation: conduct patient interviews and chart reviews to identify risks affecting surgery.
• Interdisciplinary Clearance: initiate physician consultations and order pre-operative diagnostics for clearance.
• Comprehensive Patient Education: counsel on procedure details, preparation, transport, and postoperative planning.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Pre-Operative Risk Mitigation: Leverage your deep clinical expertise to conduct meticulous, in-depth patient interviews and comprehensive chart reviews, proactively identifying and mitigating any medical anomalies or risk factors that could potentially impact the surgical outcome.
• Interdisciplinary Clearance: Drive seamless patient preparation by initiating necessary physician consultations and ordering essential pre-operative diagnostics to ensure timely clinical clearance for the scheduled procedure.
• Comprehensive Patient Education: Serve as the patient's critical point of counsel, delivering thorough education and guidance on the surgical procedure, required preparatory steps, post-operative logistics (timing, transportation), and planning for their inpatient stay or recovery.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing OR current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• One or more of the following required:
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
