Job summary

MetroHealth Main Campus—Glick Neuro Center is seeking a registered nurse to join the Neuroscience Center, 6 West. The unit serves adult neurology patients with stroke and brain injury, featuring telemetry, ICP monitoring, and dedicated critical care equipment.

Attention to NIHSS stroke care is essential. The team collaborates with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, social work, PT/OT, and dietary services across a 24-bed unit. Bi-weekly hours total 72, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed neurological assessments and monitor patient status.
• Provide neuro-critical care including ICU-level monitoring and equipment as ordered.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, respiratory therapy, social work and other team members.
• Prioritize patient safety and respond to emergencies per protocol.

Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Adult


• Ischemic/Hemorrhagic Strokes


• Status Epilepticus


• Encephalitis


• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)


• Intracranial Hemorrhage


• Stroke


• Minor Neurological Disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Detailed Neurological assessments


• ICP Monitoring


• Medication titration


• Managing surgical drains, mechanical ventilators, body temperature, & CRRT


• Neurological patient care; NIHSS Certification for Stroke care


• Telemetry monitoring


• Time management, critical thinking, delegating


• Seizure disorder monitoring/ care

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, PT, OT, Dietary

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).


• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio


• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.

• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
