Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Step Down Unit. This full-time, day-shift role provides professional nursing care per physician plans, assesses patient needs, implements treatment plans, and documents progress while collaborating with the care team and orienting new staff.

Minimum qualifications include completion of a two-year nursing program and an active New York State RN license; ACLS/BLS certifications may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data with patient, family and other health care providers
• Perform initial patient assessment based on presentation
• Document the nursing care plan and updates
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs
• Discharge planning and education planning integrated into admission
• Provide patient and family education and support
• Maintain patient safety and ensure a safe environment
• Demonstrate professional nursing practice and participate in staff orientation
