Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk in Patchogue, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Step Down Unit. You will provide professional nursing care per physician plans, collaborating with families and the health team to ensure comfort and safety.

The role targets nurses who thrive in a collaborative environment and deliver high-quality patient care. The position requires a NYS RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, with PALS preferred for ED roles.

Qualifications

• Professional nursing knowledge and practice.
• Experience: 1 year nursing experience preferred for Med Surg/ICU.
• Licenses & Certifications: NYS RN license, BLS, ACLS; PALS preferred for ED roles.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data with patient, family and care team.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient presentation.
• Document nursing assessments in the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to age and cultural needs.
• Conduct ongoing assessments per policy and patient response.
• Incorporate discharge planning into admission process.
• Analyze data to identify problems and expected outcomes.
• Develop a plan of care to achieve outcomes.
• Communicate plan and updates to patient, family and providers.
• Document the initial and updated plan of care.
