Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Surgical Step Down Unit (Night shift). This full-time role involves collecting patient data, performing initial assessments, and developing an individualized care plan in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

The position requires NYS RN licensure, BLS, ACLS/PALS as applicable, and strong communication and analytical skills to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Two-year nursing program completed.
• Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
• BLS certification and de-escalation training; ACLS and TCAR certification.
• PALS, TNCC where applicable; CPR training through AHA for required roles.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient health data with patient, family and other care providers.
• Performs initial patient assessment.
• Document the nursing care plan and updates.
• Adapt nursing care to patient age, culture and needs.
• Incorporates discharge planning into admission process.
• Collaborates with team to identify problems and plan care.
• Provide education to patient and family using assessed learning needs.
• Maintain safe environment and monitor patient safety.
