Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic in Wilmington, DE, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Med-Surg floor. This full-time position covers a 12-hour night shift (7:00 pm–7:30 am) with every third weekend and rotating holidays, on a 38-bed unit dedicated to holistic patient care.

Responsibilities include comprehensive nursing assessments, care planning, patient/family education, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Active RN licensure in Delaware.
• Experience on Med-Surg is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital nursing standards and conducts assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Completes a Nursing Assessment on each patient within 24 hours.
• Identifies patient needs from objective data and documents findings.
• Implements nursing actions for identified needs.
• Makes decisions reflecting knowledge and sound judgment.
• Communicates with patient/family about planned care and expected outcomes; documents accordingly.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient care.
• Educates and documents patient in follow-up care for transfer or discharge.
• Evaluates patient understanding of instructions.

Unit Overview

Serving the Wilmington community and Northern New Castle County, the Med/Surg floor at Saint Francis Hospital is a 38-bed unit. We care for a wide variety of patients including post-surgical patients, patient with chronic illnesses like Diabetes, and kidney failure, as well as those experiencing acute health issues. We focus on a holistic approach, addressing physical, emotional, and educational needs. This includes but not limited to pain management, wound care, and education on recovery and rehabilitation. We work with an interdisciplinary team to create individualized care plans for our patients. Our management team values and promotes work life balance, professional growth, and comradery. Responsibilities Include

• Implements appropriate Nursing actions to each patient that needs to be identified.

• Discusses with and includes patient and/or family, significant other about planned patient care and expected outcomes and documents same.
• Identifies and appropriately utilizes multidisciplinary approach to facilitate delivery of patient care.
• Instructs and documents patient in follow-up care/ activities in preparation for transfer/discharge.
• Evaluates the patient's/significant other's understanding of instructions.

Minimum Qualifications

• ASN Required, BSN Preferred, from an accredited school of nursing
• Active RN Licensure in State of Delaware
