Job summary

Ascension via Christi, St Peter in Derby, KS seeks a Nursing Unit Director to lead and mentor a clinical team within the Medical Surgical department. You will oversee hiring, staff development, and performance to empower staff to provide exceptional patient care.

You will optimize unit workflows, manage budgets, and address operational challenges to improve outcomes while ensuring compliance with national standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Kansas and BLS within 30 days of hire.
• 3+ years of experience and 1 year in cumulative leadership required.

• Solve complex care challenges by identifying and resolving operational hurdles, directly improving the quality and safety of patient outcomes.

• Champion regulatory excellence by maintaining a culture of continuous compliance, ensuring our unit consistently meets the highest national standards of healthcare.

• Manage unit finances with a strategic eye, overseeing budgets and expenditures to ensure our team has the essential tools and supplies needed to save lives.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.

Education:

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
