Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Night Shift RN for the Med Surg unit in Derby, KS. You will direct and educate the nursing staff, assess patient needs, and set priorities in real time to maintain high-quality care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Directs, educates, and monitors nursing and support staff during assigned shifts, providing key input on hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Assesses daily patient needs, establishes balanced care assignments, and sets clinical priorities aligned with real-time patient and physician dynamics.
• Oversees shift productivity standards, justifies operational variances to unit leadership, and ensures consistent availability of required supplies and materials.
• Ensures delivery of population-appropriate care standards and manages patient care concerns or complaints through established organizational channels.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
