POSITION SUMMARY

To provide quality obstetric, neonatal, and gynecologic nursing care in a holistic environment, incorporating emotional support and education with medical and nursing care to promote patient well-being.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee
  • Nursing diploma or degree from an accredited college or university
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • At least one year perinatal experience preferred
  • Certified Lactation Consultant preferred
  • NRP within six months of hire
  • ACLS certification or willingness to obtain within six months
  • Level I, II and fetal monitoring certification within 1 year
Workplace Experience:

Perinatal healthcare delivery

Equipment and Skills:

Proficiency with standard patient care equipment, ability to work under pressure, flexibility in applying nursing knowledge across settings. Equipment includes network systems, neonatal and fetal monitors, intrauterine pressure catheter, phototherapy lights, infant ventilator, and more.

Physical Environment & Effort:

Work in a perinatal/OB-GYN unit with patients from less than one year to over ninety-nine years old. Must be able to communicate effectively, stand for up to twelve hours, and lift up to 250 lbs with assistance.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  • Perform comprehensive assessments upon admission
  • Develop individualized care plans and patient education
  • Administer treatments and medications safely
  • Document care accurately and timely
  • Reassess and modify care plans as needed
  • Handle charge responsibilities and staff development
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment
  • Attend mandatory training and meetings
  • Communicate effectively and uphold professionalism
