Position Summary

Provide quality obstetric, neonatal, and gynecologic nursing care in a holistic environment, incorporating emotional support and education alongside medical and nursing care to promote patient well-being.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:

• Licensed by the State of Tennessee
• Diploma or degree in nursing from an accredited institution
• BLS within 90 days of hire
• At least one year of perinatal experience preferred
• Certified Lactation Consultant preferred
• NRP certification within six months of hire
• ACLS certification or agreement to obtain within six months
• Level I, II, and fetal monitoring certification within one year

Workplace Experience: Perinatal Healthcare Delivery

Equipment and Skills: Ability to operate standard patient care equipment, work under pressure, and adapt nursing skills to various settings. Equipment includes network systems, neonatal monitors, fetal monitors, and more.

Physical Environment: Perinatal/OB-GYN unit serving patients from infants to elderly.

Physical Effort: Must communicate effectively in English, stand for long hours, and lift up to 250 lbs with assistance.

Performance Standards

1. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments upon admission.
2. Develop individualized care plans based on identified needs.
3. Plan patient education, discharge, and follow-up care.
4. Perform treatments and procedures independently and competently.
5. Administer medications safely following policies.
6. Document patient information accurately and promptly.
7. Reassess and modify care plans based on patient responses.
8. Accept charge responsibilities and support staff development.
9. Create a healing environment for patients and families.
10. Maintain necessary qualifications and attend mandatory training.
11. Handle communication and unit duties responsibly.
