Job summary

Mercy is seeking an ICU Stepdown RN to provide comprehensive patient care in a cardiovascular and neurosurgical population. The unit features 18 beds with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and includes a $10,000 sign-on bonus for full-time RNs. NO CONTRACT and at least 1 year of experience are required.

Candidates must hold an RN license in the hiring state (or compact licensure). ACLS and BLS are required, or obtained within 90 days of hire. NIHSS competency is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a school of nursing with an ADN, Diploma, or BSN.
• Current RN license in the hiring state or a compact license.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required (or obtained within 90 days).

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care in the ICU stepdown.
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality while coordinating with other departments.

Job Description

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Patient Population

Caring for a diverse stepdown population that includes cardiovascular and neurosurgical patients. Nurses manage stable cardiac and insulin drips, monitor post-procedural patients (including cardioversions, pacemaker insertions, and CABG recovery), and provide care for patients requiring BiPAP, Airvo, and chest tubes. Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, and CKD. This unit values strong cardiac and neurological assessment skills, including NIHSS competency. Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
• Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.
