Job summary

Mercy in Fort Smith, AR is seeking an RN to provide patient care in the 3300 ICU Stepdown unit. Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, coordinating care, and safeguarding patient rights and confidentiality.

The unit serves cardiovascular and neurosurgical patients with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for full-time RNs, with required BLS/ACLS certifications or courses within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in the hiring state or compact licensure.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or course within probation.
• ACLS and BLS required or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Nurse to Patient Ratio: 4:1

Patient Population:

Caring for a diverse stepdown population that includes cardiovascular and neurosurgical patients. Nurses manage stable cardiac and insulin drips, monitor post-procedural patients (including cardioversions, pacemaker insertions, and CABG recovery), and provide care for patients requiring BiPAP, Airvo, and chest tubes. Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, and CKD. This unit values strong cardiac and neurological assessment skills, including NIHSS competency. Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
• Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.
