Job summary

Day Kimball Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Float Pool in Putnam, CT. The RN will provide care across multiple inpatient units based on staffing needs, requiring strong clinical judgment and adaptability.

The role requires 2–3 years of acute care experience, Medical-Surgical exposure, and current CT RN license with BLS and ACLS. BSN is preferred; additional certifications may be required for certain units.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• BSN degree is preferred.
• Current Connecticut RN license or Multi-state (NLC) licensure is required.
• BLS certification is required for Float Pool.
• ACLS certification is required for Float Pool.
• 2–3 years of recent acute care nursing experience is required.
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing is required.
• Progressive Care, Telemetry, ICU, ED, or Maternal Child Health experience is preferred depending on unit.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse Float Pool Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Float Pool provides professional nursing care to patients across multiple inpatient clinical areas based on organizational staffing needs. Float Pool RNs are highly skilled clinicians who possess strong critical thinking skills, clinical adaptability, and the ability to provide safe, evidence-based care in a variety of patient care settings. Float Pool nurses are assigned to departments based on demonstrated competency, patient acuity, and operational needs. Assignments are made within the RN's validated competencies and in accordance with Day Kimball Health policies, staffing guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Float Pool RNs serve as a flexible clinical resource, supporting patient care while maintaining continuity, quality outcomes, and exceptional customer service.

Registered Nurse Float Pool Key Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Registered Nurse Float Pool Experience and Education Qualifications:

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure

• Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license or holds a multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Current BLS certification required for the Float Pool role.
• Current ACLS certification required for the Float Pool role.
• Additional specialty certifications are required when applicable to the assigned unit or clinical area.

Experience

• Minimum of two-three (2-3) years of recent acute care nursing experience required.
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing required.
• Progressive Care, Telemetry, ICU, Emergency Department, and/or Maternal Child Health preferred based on assigned float areas.
