Job summary

Henrico, Parham & Retreat Doctors' Hospitals is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Float pool team. In this role, you will float across various units, providing essential clinical support, education, and care coordination for patients in diverse specialties including ICU and Medical/Surgical.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As an RN in the Float pool you will float throughout the facility to all units within your scope of practice, including ICU, Telemetry, Medical/Surgical, and Behavioral Health. You will provide clinical and administrative support, work closely with the clinical team to create and implement care plans, coordinate unit activities, and ensure accountability of assigned tasks.

• Your primary function is to instruct and educate patients and their families.
• As a member of the Float pool, you will administer all prescribed medications using the five rights, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
• Your nursing team monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions via computerized documentation systems.
• You will serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care, including discharge planning needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Virginia or holds a Compact license.
• Minimum three years of acute care experience with demonstrated competency in multiple specialty areas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
