Position Summary

The Float Registered Nurse provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly and is also individualized to a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The Float Registered Nurse incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice.

The Float Registered Nurse assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility is health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve. The Float Registered Nurse, within the parameters of his/her education and experience, may delegate nursing tasks to other registered nurses and/or healthcare personnel, provided that the delegating Float Registered Nurse bears full responsibility for the patient outcomes.

The Float Registered Nurse must have excellent assessment skills, clinical skills, organizational skills, and computer knowledge and charge capabilities. The nurse must be able to lift, transfer, and move patients. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Able to complete mathematical computations required for treatment protocols.

Requirements

• Education: Nursing degree required: diploma, ASN, or BSN (preferred); Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required
• Experience: Previous RN experience required.
• Certification/Licensure: MA RN license, BLS, ACLS required.
• Software/Hardware: Meditech
