Schedule: 36 Hours, Evenings/Nights, 7p-7a, Every Other Weekend, Full-Time, Benefit Eligible

Position Summary:

The Critical Care RN assumes full responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to patients and their family members. This includes health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and the comfort and restoration of optimal functioning. The role may also involve ensuring a dignified death for patients. Within the scope of her/his education and the Nurse Practice Act, the RN may delegate nursing activities to other RNs and healthcare personnel. The Critical Care RN provides individualized care addressing the specific needs of all age groups—from adolescents to the elderly—and considers impairments such as hearing or sight loss, substance abuse, language barriers, and potential victims of abuse. The RN integrates knowledge of patient rights, and the organization’s mission, vision, and values into nursing practice.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Education: Nursing Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required.
  • Experience: 3 years of critical care experience or completion of BMCHS transition to Critical Care course. Must maintain required competencies for a CCU setting.
  • Certification/Licensure: MA RN license, BLS, ACLS, TCAR or TNCC.
