Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Operating Room at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.

The position supports full-time day shifts with a demanding schedule, including three 12-hour shifts and occasional call, nights, weekends, or holidays. You will lead the surgical environment across scrub and circulating roles, ensure patient safety, and coordinate instrumentation and technology.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensed prior to hire date or transfer date.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire date or job transfer date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• BLS within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead the surgical environment by transitioning between scrub and circulating roles with precision and safety.
• Advocate for patient safety through vigilant monitoring and real-time communication.
• Prepare specialized cardiovascular instrumentation and advanced technology for each case.
• Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to manage line access and airway management.

Schedule: Full-time day shift, Monday through Friday, 6:30am-7:00pm, three 12-hour shifts, days TBD. Call required. Must be able to work occasional night, weekend, or holiday.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead the surgical environment by seamlessly transitioning between scrub and circulating roles, ensuring every complex cardiovascular procedure is executed with precision and safety.
• Advocate for patient safety through vigilant monitoring and real-time communication, managing the total nursing care journey for patients during their most vulnerable moments.
• Orchestrate the operative suite by expertly preparing specialized cardiovascular instrumentation and advanced technology, ensuring the team is equipped for success before the first incision.
• Collaborate as a critical partner to surgeons and anesthesia providers, proactively managing line access and intubation to maintain physiological stability throughout the case.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s):

• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• One or more of the following:
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
