Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN is seeking a registered nurse for the Cardiac Operating Room. This full-time day-shift role supports surgical patients, performing scrub and circulating duties, patient positioning, and room preparation.

Minimum requirements include a BLS, Tennessee RN license (or compact-state), and a nursing diploma. Circulating experience is required; CTOR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date.
• RN license in Tennessee or compact-state multistate license recognized.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.

• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.

• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.

• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• One or more of the following required:

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing OR current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
