Job summary

Ascension is seeking a RN to lead rapid-response disaster operations across acute and field environments, ensuring continuous clinical care during local or national events. You will use the Incident Command System and National Response Framework to manage crises, educate teams, and strengthen community response partnerships.

Minimum requirements include TX RN licensure, BLS within 30 days, and a nursing diploma.

Qualifications

  • RN licensure in Texas (Board of Nursing) required.
  • BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Diploma from an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure.

  • Maintain deployment readiness and field competency to deliver high-quality care when disaster strikes.

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Lead rapid-response emergency operations across acute, outpatient, and dynamic field environments to ensure uninterrupted clinical care during local or national disasters.

  • Direct response and recovery efforts using the Incident Command System (ICS) and National Response Framework to manage high-stress crisis scenarios effectively.

  • Educate healthcare teams and community partners on critical disaster management protocols to build resilience and maintain continuous operational readiness.

  • Represent the organization in strategic partnerships and regional Emergency Medical Task Force agreements to strengthen collaborative community response.

  • Maintain short-notice deployment readiness and field competency as a non-negotiable requirement to deliver high-quality care whenever and wherever disaster strikes.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences:

  • Qualifications & Experience: Prefer 3+ years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience alongside proven critical thinking skills.
  • Core Competencies: Demonstrates decisive judgment, strong autonomous performance under minimal supervision, and the resilience to thrive in high-stress environments.
