Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Experience: None. Previous nursing experience preferred.
• Credentials: AHA BLS, Registered Nurse license.
• TNCC (or must obtain within 1 year of hire) for specified units.
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or must obtain by end of orientation) for specified units.
• ACLS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) for specified units.
• NRP (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) for maternity services.
• PALS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) for specified units.
• Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and current trends.
• Usual Work Day: 12 Hours.

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality care to patients through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation).
• Assures patient safety by following policies and procedures.
• Supports pain management with pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures.
• Follows up on internal resources to determine outcomes of interventions.
• Mobilizes resources in complex cases to maximize patient participation in recovery.
• Provides information and interpretation of the patient’s condition to patient and family.
• Assesses information needs of patients and communicates clearly.
• Plans and documents discharge to maximize ongoing activities.
• Identifies care needs and anticipates patient needs.
• Ensures handoff communication with appropriate reporting.
