Job summary

Ascension Health in Milwaukee, WI seeks an experienced OR Nurse to support surgical teams in a fast-paced setting. The role involves scrubbing, circulating, and assisting physicians during procedures, with emphasis on patient safety and optimal outcomes.

The position requires a nursing diploma, Wisconsin RN licensure, and current ACLS/BLS certifications. Rotating shift, PRN schedule, and an opportunity to contribute to high-quality perioperative care are offered.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer date.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire or transfer date.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing or current multi-state/Compact State license.

Responsibilities

• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physicians with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences:

• Minimum of 1 year of recent Operating Room experience in an acute care hospital setting.

• Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, sterile technique, aseptic practice, and patient safety.

• Strong communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
