Job summary

Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis, IN seeks an experienced registered nurse for a 48-bed Cardiothoracic Stepdown unit.

This FT Night shift role focuses on specialized postoperative cardiovascular care, including transplant, CABG, and VAD patients, along with post‑op care for vascular and renal transplant cases. You will maintain patient ratios of 1:3 to 1:4 with Patient Care Technician support and provide comprehensive nursing care across thoracic surgical patients.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire/transfer date
• RN credential from Indiana Board of Nursing before hire date
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or equivalent licensure

Responsibilities

• Provides specialized nursing care in a 48-bed specialized progressive care unit.
• Cares for complex cardiovascular surgical patients, including transplant, CABG, and VAD recipients.
• Manages post‑op care for peripheral vascular procedures and renal transplants.
• Monitors thoracic surgery patients, including VATS, robotic procedures, and resections.
• Maintains 1:3 to 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios with Patient Care Technician support.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s)

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
