Job summary

Maria Parham Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Behavioral Health unit, serving adults 18–55. You will provide direct patient care using the nursing process, collaborating with an interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment.

This role requires an active NC RN license, an associate degree in nursing, and BLS certification. The position offers a PRN varied schedule with opportunities for professional growth and a focus on compassionate care in a community

Qualifications

• Current state RN license and an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact; licensure must be updated if relocating.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
• Assess learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

At Maria Parham Health, we know good health includes good mental health. Our Franklin facility includes a unique Behavioral Health unit to serve the mental health needs of our area's population. Our Behavioral Health Unit is divided between 20 adult psychiatric units, and our team of experienced and compassionate psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, nurses and support staff works with those between the ages of 18 and 55.The path to better mental wellness begins here!

Behavioral Health Position Summary

Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high-quality outcomes.

Reports to: Director or Manager of Department.

What you will do

Patient Populations Served:

• Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
• Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
• Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present.
• Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing.
• Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

What we are looking for

• Current state RN license and an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
