Job summary

Maria Parham Hospital in Louisburg, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Adult Behavioral Health on a PRN varied schedule. You will provide direct patient care using the nursing process in a behavioral health setting, collaborating with the interprofessional team to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.

You will perform plan-of-care interventions, document care, monitor patient condition, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license (single state) or compact.
• Associate degree in nursing is required; BSN preferred.
• BLS certification required by hire.
• Licensure must be updated to new PSOR if relocating.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
• Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Behavioral Health Position Summary

Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high-quality outcomes.

Reports to: Director or Manager of Department.

Physical Requirements (typical)

Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing.

Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

What we are looking for

• Current state RN license and an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
