Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) to diagnose and treat health problems using nursing methods and to provide supportive and restorative care while adhering to medical regimens. The role involves assessing patients, coordinating care, creating individual care plans, administering medications, and ensuring infection control.

The position requires NY RN licensure eligibility, with preferred BSN and at least one year of hospital acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred; at least one year of hospital acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when professional nursing skills are needed.
• Administer medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain plan of care; set patient goals with patient/family.
• Document patient/family teaching and outcomes in medical records.
