New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) in Newburgh, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to administer chemotherapeutic agents and provide essential patient care at our Newburgh location (611 Gidney Ave). The role includes monitoring patients, documenting in MAR, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team across NYCBS sites.

We offer opportunities to participate in cancer research trials, educate patients and families, and provide supportive resources to promote wellness.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with EMR systems preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have reliable transportation to NYCBS locations.

• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the MAR.

• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
• Educate patients and caregivers about treatment expectations and follow-up care.
• Monitor patient status during chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive medications.
• Chart patient responses to treatment and medications.

Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Newburgh - 611 Gidney Ave

Hours/Days: 4/ 10 hour shifts Mon-Thu (8am-6pm)

In This Role, You Will:

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness
• Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

We Require:

• Valid New York State RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
