Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) in Brooklyn is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our oncology team. Location: Brooklyn, with 4/10 hour shifts from Tue–Fri, 8am–6pm.

You will administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered cancer care close to home. The role requires NYS RN license, BLS, excellent clinical skills, and familiarity with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, biologics, and supportive care as prescribed.
• Monitor cancer- and treatment-related issues and vital signs.
• Document in medication administration records and chart patient status.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to share expertise.
• Participate in cancer research trials per protocol.
• Provide resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
• Educate patients and families about treatment expectations and follow-up care.
• Ensure safety with PPE and handling of cytotoxic agents.

In This Role, You Will

• Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician
• Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
• Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol
• Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness
• Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
• Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services

We Require

• Valid New York State RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
