Job summary

Healthcare Staffing Professionals is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a correctional facility in Chesapeake, VA. The RN will perform general nursing duties, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for inmates while adhering to clinical standards.

The role offers night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with a pay rate of $47 per hour. Weekend shifts receive an additional $2 per hour.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Active Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• 2–3 professional references.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Assess health needs and develop individualized care plans for inmates.
• Perform health screenings and respond to emergencies.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.

Location: Chesapeake, VA

Job Duties

• Provide general care services, including assessment, analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Assess healthcare needs of patients through a variety of routine underdisciplined assessments, and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing and health care plans accordingly
• Perform health screenings of patients or clients
• Respond to emergency healthcare needs of patients
• Collect and records data specific to health status of patients or clients
• Administer medications/treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners
• Instructs patients in treatment methods prescribed by medical practitioners/interdisciplinary treatment teams
• Provide health care instruction and education to individuals and others relating to the promotion of health and prevention or management of illness, disease, injury or disabilities
• Responsibilities will vary depending on department of assignment (e.g. Emergency Room/Clinic, advisory to non-medical administrator, infection control, nurse/health education development, quality assurance, nurse anesthetist, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

• BLS
• Active Registered Nurse License
• 2-3 Professional References
• Basic Life: $25,000 (100% employer paid)
• Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) : $25,000 (100% employer paid)
