Responsibilities

• Assist in rehabilitation programs: social and daily living skills; reality orientation.
• Document treatments on patient records.
• Perform nursing procedures per care plan (dressings, soaks, enemas, etc.).

Job description

Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to work in a correctional facility in Chesapeake, VA. Successful candidates will provide skilled nursing services to patients in state correctional facilities, under the direction of a professional registered nurse or medical doctor and provide a variety of related services to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Pay Rate:

$36/hr

Location

Chesapeake , VA

Shifts:

Night 7P-7:30A

Paid Weekly - weekend shifts receive $2/hr more

Job Duties

• Set up prescribed medications in accordance with patients' nursing care plans
• Administer medications to patients orally, intra-muscularly or subcutaneously
• Monitor effects of medication, records all medications given to patients'
• Assists in rehabilitation programming, such as:
• Development of social skills
• Development of daily living skills
• Reality orientation
• Record treatment given to patients on their medical record
• Administer nursing procedures to patients in accordance with patients nursing care plans, such procedures include sterile dressing, soaks, compresses, enemas, suppositories, tube feeding, oxygen therapy, range of motion therapy, catheterization, diabetic care, pre- and post-operative care etc.

Qualifications

• American Heart Association – BLS Certificate
• Active LPN License in the state of Virginia
• Basic Life: $25,000 (100% employer paid)
• Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) : $25,000 (100% employer paid)
