Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Dietitian to join our Nutrition team. The role focuses on providing nutrition care to pediatric patients, performing assessments, and delivering family-centered education in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The candidate will participate in an interdisciplinary team, support clinical education for interns, and ensure compliant documentation while advancing pediatric nutrition initiatives.

Qualifications

• Pediatric nutrition experience in inpatient or outpatient setting preferred, but not required.
• Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Georgia licensed dietitian credential required or obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Dietitian credentials (RD/LD) must be in good standing per state and national requirements.

Responsibilities

• Determines nutritional assessment using age and developmentally appropriate standards.
• Recommends medical nutrition therapy and evaluates response.
• Instructs patient and family on nutrition therapy with age-appropriate education.
• Advises groups on pediatric nutrition and community programs.
• Documents all activities per departmental standards.
• Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Directs and evaluates dietetic interns/students.
• Maintains professional development responsibilities.

Job Description

Participates as interdisciplinary patient care team member to provide nutritional services and education to meet needs of identified patient population within the scope of the medical center’s mission and values.

Experience

• Pediatric nutrition experience in inpatient or outpatient setting preferred, but not required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pediatric populations

Education

• Dietitians credentialed prior to 12/31/23: Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
• Dietitians credentialed after 12/31/23: Master’s of Science or Public Health in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field

Certification Summary

• Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Georgia licensed dietitian
• If dietitian does not currently possess RD and/or LD credential, must obtain within 3 months of hire

Job Responsibilities

• Determines nutritional assessment using age and developmentally appropriate standards.
• Recommends appropriate medical nutritional therapy for assigned patients and evaluates response to medical nutritional therapy and determines change.
• Instructs patient and family related to nutritional therapy which incorporates age-appropriate developmental standards. Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
• Advises groups related to pediatric nutritional therapy and community nutrition as required.
• Implements departmental standards for documenting all aspects of work-related activities.
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary team.
• Directs and evaluates dietetic interns/students.
• Maintains professional development responsibilities.
• Performs other responsibilities as required, including but not limited to departmental committee participation and annual competencies.
