Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a registered dietitian to provide nutritional assessment and medical nutrition therapy for identified pediatric patients, within the hospital’s mission and values.

You will educate patients and families, participate in interdisciplinary teams, and supervise dietetic interns/students while maintaining professional development, contributing to departmental standards and patient education.

Qualifications

• Dietitians credentialed prior to 12/31/23: BS in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
• Dietitians credentialed after 12/31/23: MS or MPH in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
• Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• Georgia licensed dietitian.
• If RD/LD credential not held, must obtain within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Determines nutritional assessment using age and developmentally appropriate standards.
• Recommends appropriate medical nutritional therapy for assigned patients and evaluates response to medical nutritional therapy and determines change.
• Instructs patient and family related to nutritional therapy which incorporates age-appropriate developmental standards. Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
• Advises groups related to pediatric nutritional therapy and community nutrition as required.
• Implements departmental standards for documenting all aspects of work-related activities.
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary team.
• Directs and evaluates dietetic interns/students.
• Maintains professional development responsibilities.
• Performs other responsibilities as required, including but not limited to departmental committee participation and annual competencies.

Experience

• Pediatric nutrition experience in inpatient or outpatient setting preferred, but not required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pediatric populations

Education

• Dietitians credentialed prior to 12/31/23: Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
• Dietitians credentialed after 12/31/23: Master’s of Science or Public Health in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field

Certification Summary

• Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration

• If dietitian does not currently possess RD and/or LD credential, must obtain within 3 months of hire
