Job summary

Akua Behavioral Health in California is seeking a Clinical Technician to support patients with addiction and mental health needs. This hourly, full-time, non-exempt role focuses on direct client care, safety checks, intakes and discharges, and medication observation in a licensed treatment setting.

You'll facilitate group sessions, document in the EMR (KIPU), and work closely with a compassionate team to provide consistent, quality care.

Qualifications

• License/Credentials: RADT, SUDRC, or RAC (required).
• Education: High School Diploma / GED or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
• Experience: 1+ years in behavioral healthcare (preferred).
• Additional: Valid CA Driver's License, Health Screen, TB Test Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Direct Client Care: Support patients with addiction and mental health through daily activities and programming.
• Safety Checks: Conduct regular rounds on all patients.
• Intakes & Discharges: Lead patient intakes and discharges with care.
• Medication Observation: Monitor self-administration per policy.
• Group Facilitation: Lead group sessions (life skills, art therapy, outings).
• Documentation: Record notes in KIPU EMR.

Position: Clinical Technician

Type: Hourly, Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $23 hourly

Available Shifts:

• AM (6:30am - 3:00pm)
• PM (2:30pm-11:00pm)
• NOC (10:30pm-7:00am)

Key Responsibilities

• Direct Client Care: Support patients struggling with addiction and mental health disorders through daily activities and programming, appointments, and crisis intervention.
• Safety Checks: Conduct regular physical checks on all patients within care (a.k.a. “rounds”).
• Intakes & Discharges: Play a leading role in patient intakes and discharges from the treatment facility, ensuring all clients feel comfortable and welcome.
• Medication Observation: Monitor and document client self-administration of medications in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.
• Group Facilitation: Participate in and facilitate applicable group sessions (e.g. life skills, art therapy, outings, etc.).
• Documentation: Take all required notes in the company's electronic medical record system (KIPU).
