Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to design and oversee a dynamic volunteer program across the Southwest Division, covering Arizona and surrounding areas. The role emphasizes relationship-building, program training, and strategic volunteer engagement.

You will lead recruitment, screening, training, and ongoing support for volunteers, collaborating with local corps and partner organizations to meet community needs with integrity and compassion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or four years relatable experience may substitute for a degree.
• Four years of relatable experience may substitute for a degree.
• Some leadership experience is strongly preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook required.
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and maintain professional boundaries.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Driver's license with clean record and ability to pass fleet safety module.
• Knowledge of Golden Volunteer Software a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop a process to recruit, screen, train, assign, track, and evaluate volunteers in collaboration with the local department and Corps leadership.
• Assist Corps and programs in determining their volunteer needs and train units on volunteer utilization.
• Manage and maintain the Volunteer Management Software (VMS).
• Screen and manage Salvation Army Volunteer Background Check System division wide.
• Create material to be used for recruitment and general community outreach.
• Establish working relations with other organizations and Salvation Army partners to assess opportunities for volunteerism.
• Recruit through social media, local connections, and national agencies.
• Prepare files for audits and maintain volunteer records.
• Coordinate with Corps and Programs to identify long- and short-term volunteer positions.
