Job summary

Salvation Army Tucson is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to build and supervise a robust volunteer program across the Southwest Division, including Arizona. You will recruit, screen, train, and place volunteers, manage VMS and reporting, and partner with programs to align needs with opportunities across services.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, leadership, and training, with on-site responsibilities throughout Arizona and related divisions.

Qualifications

• Four years of relatable experience may substitute for a degree.
• Some leadership experience is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook required.
• Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude with diverse backgrounds.
• Able to maintain a non-judgmental approach and professional boundaries with volunteers.
• Must pass a criminal background check and have a valid driving license.

Responsibilities

• Develop a process to recruit, screen, train, assign, track, and evaluate volunteers.
• Assist Corps and programs in determining volunteer needs and train units on utilization.
• Manage the Volunteer Management Software (VMS) and background check system.
• Create recruitment materials and establish relations with partner organizations.
• Recruit through social media, local connections, and national agencies.
• Document records for audits and prepare quarterly reports on volunteering metrics.
• Develop training and orientation for volunteers and recognize service milestones.
• Support Salvation Army Christmas programs and seasonal volunteer activities.
