Job summary

Lakefield Veterinary Group is seeking a Regional Medical Director to provide strategic medical leadership across its hospitals. You will mentor medical leaders, shape regional clinical standards, and collaborate with operations to improve patient care and hospital culture.

The role requires travel within the region, a DVM, and a track record of leadership in multi-site veterinary practice. This hybrid, high-impact position offers competitive compensation and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree required.
• Active veterinary license in good standing; ability to obtain licensure in applicable states as needed.
• Minimum of five years' experience in clinical veterinary practice.
• Minimum of two years in a leadership role within a practice.
• Strong clinical background with demonstrated leadership experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, mentorship, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to influence and lead through collaboration rather than authority alone.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
• Passion for developing people, teams, and hospital culture.
• Comfortable with travel throughout the assigned region.
• Experience in multi-site or regional practice environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic medical leadership and guidance to area hospitals.
• Help hospitals establish a clear medical vision aligned with Lakefield’s standards.
• Collaborate with hospital medical teams to enhance care across hospitals.
• Mentor medical leaders and support staff development.
• Support recruitment and retention of veterinary talent.
• Represent Lakefield in industry and regional meetings.
• Travel regularly to regional hospitals.
