Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Traveling Wastewater Operations Technician to cover vacations and absences across multiple facilities in the region. You will support operation and maintenance, perform lab testing, collect samples, and help train local technicians to meet regulatory and safety standards.

The role requires significant travel, often 1–2 weeks away from home, and may extend to a month for special circumstances. Strong communication skills and prior WWTP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google equivalent required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and written, required.
• Willingness to learn and be able take instructions on Wastewater treatment processes.
• 3+ years of experience in Wastewater treatment plant operations or related field preferred.
• Prior experience in a traveling work role preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete operational coverage of Veolia facilities in designated region during vacations and unplanned absences.
• Assist in development of local technicians and training materials.
• Ensure industry standards and best practices are used at facilities.
• Support new account start-ups with SWOT team to develop tasks and goals.
• Troubleshoot process issues and advise on corrective actions.
• Operate pumps and valves to regulate wastewater flow.
• Collect and test wastewater samples as per testing frequency.
• Maintain accurate client data records (chemicals, turbidity, pressure).
• Comply with Veolia safety programs.
• Coordinate with external maintenance for non-core tasks.
• Train and supervise technicians; develop SOPs and site procedures.
• Continuously optimize plant operation to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Prepare and update site performance data for client review.
• Be available for day and night shifts and emergency calls.
• Work environment may include extreme conditions and heavy lifting.
• Active communication with client and Veolia management on operation status.
